Raunak Kumar
I am an applied scientist in the MSAI team at Microsoft where I work on Microsoft 365 Copilot.
I received my PhD in computer science from Cornell University, where I was advised by Robert D. Kleinberg and Sarah Dean. Prior to that, I received my undergraduate degree in computer science from The University of British Columbia, where I was advised by Mark Schmidt.
My PhD thesis, “Learning from Interactions via Online Decision-making and Network Science”, studied interaction loops between a learning agent and an environment from two different perspectives: online decision-making and network science. I am interested in online learning, bandits, optimization, and control. More broadly, I am interested in machine learning, algorithms, and theoretical computer science.
During my PhD, I was grateful to be supported by an NSERC Alexander Graham Bell Graduate Fellowship. I also interned in the MSAI team at Microsoft over four summers working closely with Jennifer Neville.
